WhatsApp beta for Android is getting a new selection menu for audio or video messages. The new feature is present in beta version 2.23.22.5.
According to the folks at WABetaInfo, the improvement responds to public feedback, as many people complained regarding the previous option that worked automatically.
See below that tapping the microphone button should give you access to a small menu where you can choose between voice or video manually.
For now, the new feature is being released gradually to some users within the beta program. Therefore, we emphasize that it may take a while for the improvement to be widely available.
Still, this menu that allows manual switching can prevent many people from making the wrong choice or having difficulty, something that happened a lot in the previous option.
WhatsApp has also been testing the audio function with single playback and a new shortcut for blocking conversations with a password.
