Sölden – Federica Brignone was in a class of her own in the first round of the women’s giant slalom in Sölden at the start of the Alpine Ski World Cup. On Saturday, the Italian took half a second off second-placed Swede Sara Hector, while Slovakian Petra Vlhova was third, 0.63 seconds behind. The best Austrian was initially local hero Franziska Gritsch, who ranked seventh with +1.19. The decision-making process begins at 1 p.m.
