The two professors specializing in mobility behind this idea, which consists of making motorists pay fees to drive during rush hours in Belgium, work for the University of Louvain. They want to propose solutions to the traffic jam problem in Belgium, reports Sudinfo.

According to Professor Stef Proost, Belgian traffic jams cost the State on average 4 million euros per year. And the two professors’ suggestion to change the situation, while reducing the ecological impact, is to “reward” motorists who avoid rush hours by opting for other means of transport.
