Little Ayrton flew to the metropolis this Monday for radiotherapy sessions at the Gustave-Roussy Institute, the first European center to fight cancer in Villejuif.

Aged 3, Ayrton is a little Reunion Islander suffering from cancer (neuroblastoma).

A new stage

He was to begin his radiotherapy sessions a year ago at the Gustave-Roussy Institute. A complicated operation pushed back the start date of treatment.

Before boarding for Paris, his father explains: “Radiotherapy awaits Ayrton, we know he is capable of taking on many challenges. We have no doubt that he will be able to face this one. It will be a chance to close the loop too, to see certain people once more, to meet others ‘others.”

A little warrior

Schooled in a small section at Le Tampon, the young boy will miss classes for some time. He should stay in mainland France until December 29, at least.

Last August, Ayrton was able to make his first return despite his illness and treatments. A pride for his parents who always fought for him: “Despite his illness, we wanted him to have as smooth and normal a school career as possible. He is in the same school where I went, we are very happy and I am proud of him”explains his dad Damien.
