Volkswagen is decoupling its China business
Volkswagen has built its largest development center outside of Germany in Hefei, China. This is where they want to develop their cars for their most important market in the future. Wolfsburg hardly has any say anymore.
It begins to hum and the youngest member of the Volkswagen family begins to shake violently on the test bench. Four hydraulic posts under the tires give the Cupra Tavascan a good shake. Infrared headlights cause summer heat, air conditioning systems cause winter temperatures below zero. Meanwhile, a cable supplies the electric car with power. The vehicle has to survive this torture for four weeks before the engineers are convinced that the suspension will last for a 160,000-kilometer lifespan.
