Effects of cold air + radiative cooling is effective at night in sunny areas

In addition to the low temperature for this period due to the effects of strong cold air, it is thought that in areas that were sunny, radiation cooling occurred during the night, causing heat to escape into space and making the weather even colder.

The coldest area in Japan, excluding Mt. Fuji, was AMeDAS Rikubetsu in Hokkaido, with a minimum temperature of -17.1℃. This season’s lowest temperature observed nationwide since August 1st has been updated.

Sendai, Nagoya, and Kobe also recorded the lowest temperatures of the season, and in some places it was the first winter day of the season, such as -0.9℃ in Utsunomiya and -0.2℃ in Mito.

▼Minimum temperature this morning (until 8 o’clock)
Sapporo −5.0 ℃ in late December and
Sendai 0.0 ℃ in late December and Tokyo 6.8 ℃ in late November and
Nagoya 4.1 ℃ in early December and Osaka 5.5 ℃ in mid-December
