A shooting broke out this Wednesday evening around 7:30 p.m. on Avenue de la Toison d’Or, in the center of Brussels. 3 people were injured according to a press release from the Brussels Capital Ixelles police zone. “Around 7:30 p.m., we were informed of a shooting on Avenue de la Toison d’Or. Our services immediately went to the scene. There are 3 injured. A perimeter has been set up“said police district spokesperson Ilse Van de Keere. The perpetrator(s) were no longer there when the police arrived.
The circumstances of this shooting remain to be clarified. According to information collected by RTBF, the preferred hypothesis for the moment is that of a settling of scores between rival criminal gangs. The Brussels Capital Ixelles local police confirm that “At this stage of the findings, there are no elements which can lead us to believe that this is a terrorist act.“.
