This new generation battery uses a phase change material, such as paraffin. “To put it simply“, explains Arnaud Lathiers, technical manager at “Destore”, “It works like a melting candle. The energy will be stored in the form of heat. When paraffin liquefies, it will absorb a lot of energy. On contact, the cold water will heat up and the candle will re-solidify, it will re-transfer the heat. The heated water is therefore available to the user.” Possible storage equivalent to 6 or 8 hours of consumption. “And so you immediately have the heat that you were able to produce at another time”.
