MARKET REVIEW. The New York Stock Exchange ended lower on Wednesday, taking a break following weeks of levitation, once morest a backdrop of cautious comments from companies on the state of consumption in the United States.

The Toronto Stock Exchange lost more than 200 points at close on Wednesday.

In Toronto, the S&P/TSX lost -238.82 points (-1.15%) to 20,600.81 points.

In New York, the S&P 500 fell -70.02 points (-1.47%) to 4,698.35 points.

The Nasdaq fell -225.28 points (-1.50%) to 14,777.94 points.

The DOW fell -475.92 points (-1.27%) to 37,082.00 points.

The loon fell -US$0.0019 (-0.2477%) to US$0.7483.

The oil lost -US$0.16 (-0.22%) to US$73.78.

The Nasdaq rose +121.08 points (+0.90%) to 13,639.86 points.

The DOW rose by +51.25 points (+0.15%) to 34,203.85 points.

Oil fell -US$0.64 (-0.83%) to US$76.73.

Gold was down -US$3.00 (-0.15%) to US$1,970.50.
