Next year one of Germany’s greatest painters will celebrate his big birthday. Caspar David Friedrich would have been 250 years old in 2024. To mark this anniversary, there are a number of exhibitions in international venues. In mid-December, the Hamburger Kunsthalle opened a comprehensive retrospective of the most important representative of German Romanticism, whose works were ignored for a long time and repeatedly ideologically charged over time.
