One person was killed and at least one other was shot and injured during a shooting at the Padock Mall in Ocala, Florida, on Saturday followingnoon.
Local police indicate on X (formerly Twitter) that the suspect fled the scene and that it was therefore no longer an active shooter situation.
“We believe the shooter has left the scene and is at sea,” the Ocala Police Department wrote.
One adult male was found deceased in a common area, and one woman was taken to the hospital and is being treated for non life threatening injuries.
We believe the shooter fled the area and is at large.
We also believe this shooting may have been targeted.

The entire shopping center has been evacuated and there is no longer any danger for the population.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and are still asking the public to avoid being in the area.
