A traffic jam on the highway will have put an end to his escape. A suspected robber was arrested late Tuesday followingnoon while trying to escape the police on the highway towards Lyon (F). He was part of a team of several individuals who burst into a telephone store in Cluses, armed with tear gas canisters. The man fled in a delivery truck, details “The Dauphiné Libéré“. A chase then began between Haute-Savoie and Savoie. The highway was closed for two hours between two tunnels at the request of the police.
After taking numerous risks and causing an accident, the fugitive’s vehicle was slowed down in the traffic jam which had formed between the two structures. Intercepted near the Dullin tunnel (Savoie), the motorist was placed in police custody. His associates are still wanted. The chase caused slowdowns over around ten kilometers. No one was injured in the hold-up.
