The overall vehicle fleet still remains largely thermal. As of January 1, 2024, 163,511 electric cars were authorized to circulate on Swiss roads, out of a total of around 4.5 million cars. It will probably take another twenty years, according to Swiss eMobility, for the entire fleet to be virtually electric, according to projections.
