Dubai Media supports “Al Marmoom…a film in the desert”

Dubai Media announced its support for the third edition of the “Al Marmoom… Film in the Desert” festival, which is organized by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority “Dubai Culture” in the Al Marmoom Desert Reserve, and displays more than 70 short and long feature films from the Emirates and the region, and a group of films. This comes within the framework of Dubai Media’s efforts aimed at stimulating emerging talents and Emirati filmmakers and supporting Dubai’s creative economy.

As part of its support for the activities of the festival, which continues until January 21, the “Awan” digital platform will devote a wide space to the cultural event, as its special coverage of the festival, which is held under the slogan “Stories Told by Nature,” includes a group of exclusive dialogues, reports, and video clips that shed light on the film industry. Local and regional, the platform also follows up, through its media team, the most prominent cinematic performances, seminars, dialogue and discussion sessions, and workshops organized by Dubai Culture throughout the festival period, leading up to coverage of the festival’s closing ceremony and the announcement of the results of the “Al Marmoom Short Film Competition,” which includes three categories: : The animation films category, the documentary films category, and the live action films category, where an elite group of directors and cinema experts in the Emirates and the region undertake the judging process.

A group of Dubai Media journalists, namely: Ahmed Abdullah, Ayoub Youssef, and Ibrahim Estadi, will undertake the task of managing a number of dialogue and discussion sessions that will be held during the festival period, and the “Awan Kids” digital platform in the children’s area will display a wide variety of dramatic and cinematic works. Which targets children.

Editor-in-Chief of “Dubai Post” and Director of the Digital Media Department at “Dubai Media”, Khadija Al Marzouqi, stressed the importance of the festival and its role in encouraging Emirati and regional filmmakers and enhancing the cinematic movement in the region. She said: “The (Al Marmoom… Film in the Desert) festival succeeded in enriching the cultural movement taking place in Dubai by attracting an elite group of Emirati directors and filmmakers, and many emerging talents, in addition to providing the opportunity for members of society to learn regarding and meet other cultures. “This reflects the importance of the role that cinema plays in shaping the collective cultural awareness of adults and children.”

She added: “Dubai Media seeks, through its various plans, initiatives and productions, to adopt emerging talents and enable them to develop their tools and ambitions, in addition to developing the dramatic and television creativity industry, which contributes to creating job opportunities and stimulating the economic growth of local, Arab and Gulf cinema and drama.”

The director of the “Awan” digital platform, Heba Al-Samat, will participate in the “Cinema Exhibiting Platforms” session, which will be held today and moderated by Sahar Mizari, during which Al-Samat will highlight the importance of digital platforms and their role in supporting the cinema and content industry.
