She spoke regarding her relationship with the controversial character during an interview with Marie-Christine Bergeron.
The relationship between the two co-hosts dates back to the time when they rubbed shoulders on the airwaves of Cogeco.
From the outset, Ms. Arsenault admits that she often did not remain indifferent to the host’s statements. “He often shocked me! It happened regularly. What I really liked regarding our dynamic was that we were able to debate, to have different opinions,” she says, specifying that a great respect existed between the two accomplices.
The host also confides that her colleague had a much more temperate attitude in the private sphere. “He was calm. When I had him over, he would sit down and listen. He wasn’t someone who took up a lot of space. When we had radio parties, he took up a lot of space, but when he was at my house, with my family, he was very calm, even discreet sometimes,” she reveals.
Did he ever question himself once his interventions were over? “No, never, that wasn’t his style,” says Josey Arsenault.
Pierre Mailloux, his real name, the controversial psychiatrist would be 75 years old on January 14. According to a message from his family, Mr. Mailloux died “peacefully following an incurable illness.”
A graduate of medicine at Laval University and psychiatry at McGill University following a specialization in 1979, it was in the field of media that Dr. Mailloux became known to the general public – often for bad reasons. He began his media career as host of A psychiatrist listening on the former CKAC radio station in Montreal, where his incisive tone and sharp opinions quickly attracted attention.
