The federal police are organizing a “drink-free and drug-free driving weekend”. Until Monday 6 a.m., motorists will face numerous roadblocks where they will be checked.

In Herstal, this followingnoon, everything was scrutinized by the agents: registrations, technical inspections, on-board documents, alcohol, drugs, nothing is left to chance. The entire vehicle is examined.

This is the 17th edition of the weekend without alcohol or drugs while driving. As explained by Daniel De Nève, commissioner of the federal road police in the province of Liège, this operation is national and severe. “When it comes to driving under the influence, there is zero tolerance all year round, but here, we don’t just blow people away or detect the presence of drugs, we check all vehicle documents, including insurance, he described live on RTLINFO 7 p.m. We are faced with a lot of drivers who drive without insurance.”

The commissioner also highlights the fact that this time of year carries a particular danger: that of driving in the dark. “All so-called “safety” elements, whether tires, lights, and others, are also checked and this will perhaps be the subject of warning reports. But for the rest , we are very strict, because there, it will be zero tolerance”further clarified Daniel De Nève.
