Elisabeth Schweeger responds energetically to people who are unable to share her views with the persuasive power of her polished intellect. The native Viennese plunged headfirst into the venture of organizing the 2024 Capital of Culture year in the Salzkammergut. Her predecessor left office following quarrels. Schweeger took over in November 2021 and curated projects. When asked whether the period for getting used to it wasn’t too short, she answered coolly: Two years’ notice would certainly have been nice.
