LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles FC hired former Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini as player development coach on Tuesday, a month following he retired as a player.
Chiellini, 39, spent the last season and a half with the Los Angeles team. He will work with coach Steve Cherundolo and his assistants.
As a defender, Chiellini appeared in 117 games for Italy. He played in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups and won the 2021 Euro Cup.
He played for Juventus from 2004 to ’22, during a 22-year career, in which he won nine Serie A titles, from 2012 to ’20.
