Seromucosal otitis media is a common condition in children aged 6 months to 12 years. Although it generally heals spontaneously, it can expose the child to hearing loss. It is the leading cause of consultation, antibiotic prescription and surgical intervention in children in developed countries. It affects nearly 20% of children under 2 years old and 16% of children under 5 years old. Its frequency decreases from the age of 6. The effusion most often heals spontaneously and only simple monitoring is therefore necessary. If the effusion lasts beyond 3 months, it is up to the ENT specialist to assess the child’s hearing and, in the event of a decrease, to suggest treatment. [1]. What are the risk factors? What are the symptoms ? What are the repercussions on hearing, learning and daily life? What diagnostic and therapeutic strategies?
