It’s not yet spring but the Minister of the Economy and Finance wanted to become a gardener this Thursday. On the occasion of the submission of the report from five parliamentarians of the presidential majority, which should feed into the bill to “simplify the daily life of businesses”, Bruno Le Maire recalled his objective: “to transform a maquis into a garden in which we meet once more, we prune, we heal, we develop.”

It is a question, he clarified, of “cutting out unnecessary standards and the business of standards which increase companies’ costs”, of “taking care of the relationship” between administrations and users. “An entrepreneur is not a potential fraudster,” he assured. Finally, with this text intended to contribute to “unlocking” growth, it is regarding “helping businesses grow”. Which will be welcome: Bruno Le Maire will have to revise downwards “in the coming days” the growth forecast for France in 2024.
