A gunman barged into a home in Washington, D.C., and began shooting, injuring 3 police officers.
According to the American media, the police went to a residential complex in the Washington area to arrest an animal abuser, but he barricaded himself inside a house and started shooting.
Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith said it all started around 07:30 (local time, 14:30 Greek time) when officers came under fire upon arriving at the scene.
“Three police officers have bullet wounds, which are not considered life-threatening. All of them have been taken to an area hospital for treatment,” a police spokesperson told Fox News.
The gunman barricaded himself inside the house and refuses to surrender.
In 2023, crime in the US capital recorded a 39% increase compared to the previous year. In particular, robberies increased by 67%, while homicides increased by 35%, according to police data.
