In their portrait of FPÖ chairman Herbert Kickl, they confused his grandparents, which motivated the head of the Freedom Party to make a mocking video on Wednesday evening. The book remains in stores in the incorrect version because all copies have already been delivered, the Zsolnay publishing house explained in response to an APA request.
Logistically, it would not be possible to correct the error with insert sheets, for example, since the book is already available in dozens of bookstores. In a second edition, which will appear in any case, the relevant passage will clearly be redesigned.
“Unfortunate mistake”
On the website of the Hanser publishing group, to which Zsolnay belongs, an erratum has been added to the advertising text for the book. The authors Gernot Bauer and Robert Treichler write about a “regrettable mistake”. Due to a mix-up, they incorrectly named Leopoldine and Johann Lackner as Kickl’s maternal grandparents. In fact, Josefa and Josef Lackner are his maternal grandparents.
The FPÖ leader had already made this clear on Wednesday evening and relished spreading the incorrect content resulting from the mix-up.
