Marked increases in Île-de-France
The heart of the event, Île-de-France, saw its median prices explode. In Montigny-le-Bretonneux, rental prices increased by 136%, while Versailles recorded an increase of 113%.. These increases are particularly striking when we consider that the study of Likibu.fr relies on median prices, reflecting true cost inflation for visitors.
These rental price increases are not uniform across the region. Certain areas, despite their proximity to the competition venues, remain more stablewhich might suggest that the precise location and amenities offered play a critical role in determining prices.
Contrasts with other host cities
In contrast to the Paris region, cities like Nice, Bordeaux, and Nantes show much more moderate increases., with respective increases of only 4% and 13%. The “Olympic Games” effect therefore seems very localized, perhaps because these cities host fewer events, or because they are less renowned for their tourist interest. The reasons for these disparities also lie in the initial reception capacity of the cities, their usual tourist attractiveness and the distance from the Olympic sites.
