“The bodies of the victims evaporate.” An international organization demands an international investigation into the possibility of Israel using thermal weapons in Gaza

Gaza – The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called for an international investigation into “the possibility that Israel used thermal weapons in its war on the Gaza Strip that lead to the evaporation or melting of the victims’ bodies.”

The international organization, which deals with human rights issues, called for the formation of “an international investigation committee of specialized experts on the weapons used by Israel, including the possibility of its use of bombs that generate intense heat that leads to the vaporization of the victims’ bodies.”

The Observatory said, “Testimonies it documented and preliminary information it collected revealed a hidden aspect of the horrific levels of killing practiced by Israel in the Gaza Strip, related to the evaporation or melting of victims’ bodies as a result of bombs dropped by Israeli warplanes on residential homes.”

He revealed that “the occupation army’s resort to causing massive destruction in entire residential squares during its attacks on the Gaza Strip and the fall of huge numbers of martyrs and wounded raises fears of the possibility of its use of ‘thermal weapons’ or what is known as ‘vacuum bombs’.” These bombs are famous in the military field for their effectiveness in destroying caves and underground tunnel complexes.

He explained that “thousands of victims are still missing, either due to the inability to extract them from under the rubble, due to the lack of equipment and technical capabilities, or because their bodies were not found in places from which the rubble had been removed, or because they were forcibly hidden by the occupation army.”

He said: “We documented several cases of victims who died in devastating Israeli raids on residential buildings, and when trying to recover their bodies, it became clear that some of them had disappeared or that they might have turned into ashes, which raises question marks regarding the type of bombs used in these attacks.”

The Observatory confirmed, “Israel has a long record of committing serious violations of the rules of international humanitarian law, including violating the principle of distinction, the principle of proportionality, the principle of military necessity, and the rules of protection in armed conflicts, especially during its ongoing military attack on Gaza.”

He added, “The occupation army has used and continues to use various types of weapons and ammunition and disproportionate destructive force once morest Palestinian civilians and their property, in violation of the rules for protecting civilians and their property from the dangers of war, which are provided by international humanitarian law.”

International humanitarian law prohibits the use of thermal bombs to target civilians in populated civilian areas, in accordance with the Hague Conventions of 1899 and 1907 and the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
