It has been revealed that women who get their eyebrows done for beauty purposes are suffering from a dangerous lung disease.
British newspaper “De San” Two women who got their eyebrows done were diagnosed with “systemic sarcoidosis,” an autoimmune condition that causes the lungs to swell and make breathing difficult, according to a report published in
This is the first time that doctors have recorded cases of women suffering from this condition following getting eyebrows done.
Both women had their eyebrows microbladed, a semi-permanent tattooing technique that gives the eyebrows a thicker appearance.
But in most people, the disease spreads to the lungs and lymph nodes, called systemic sarcoidosis.
It can also affect other parts of the body, including the brain, kidneys and heart, which can be life-threatening.
There is no known cause of sarcoidosis, but some experts believe it may be triggered by exposure to certain irritants, usually fungi and pesticides.
There is some evidence to suggest that some people are genetically more likely to develop the condition.
When this happens, the body’s immune system goes into overdrive and starts attacking itself.
The UK’s National Health Service says there is currently no cure but symptoms can usually be managed with medication.

“Microbleeding probably triggered the development of sarcoidosis in both patients,” the doctors wrote in the Journal of Medical Case Report.
Doctors say that the ink used for microblading can trigger the disease.
Treatment
The first woman was treated with steroids for two years, during which the skin lesions cleared up and lung growth resumed.
Another woman was also treated with steroids and saw similar improvements in the first year of treatment.
