Asunción, IP Agency.- So far this year, Paraguay has registered 299,716 dengue notifications throughout the country. The largest number of those affected are children between 5 and 9 years old, according to the Ministry of Health report.
The weekly Health Surveillance report indicates that, in the last three weeks (SE) 15, 16 and 17, 22,418 notifications were registered nationwide, of which 3,536 are cases with a diagnosis of dengue, according to partial data.
The Ministry of Public Health reported that so far this year, there have been 299,716 dengue notifications in the national territory.
Seventy-eight percent of the notifications reported in the past three weeks come from Central, Itapua, Asuncion, Upper Parana, Misiones, Paraguay, Caaguazú, Guairá and Ñeembucú.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, a large percentage of cases have been concentrated in the pediatric age group, with the most affected age group being 5 to 9 years old, followed by 10 to 14 years old.
87 percent of the samples processed this year correspond to DEN-2, which is the predominant serotype in Paraguay.
Hospitalized
The number of hospitalizations for dengue shows a decrease. In the last three weeks, a total of 929 hospitalized for suspected arbovirosis were recorded; Of these, 341 are cases with a diagnosis of dengue and 12 were admitted to intensive care. During this period, 5 pregnant women were hospitalized.
Among hospitalized patients, the most affected age group is 5 to 9 years old, followed by the 10 to 14 year old group.
Of all those admitted, 21% report comorbidity: diabetes, obesity and heart disease. According to the report, 56% of those hospitalized are registered in the Central and Asunción regions.
Deceased
In the last three weeks, one death from dengue was confirmed, corresponding to week (SE) 16.
