Second batch of the Route to Puerto Indio registers important progress in its construction

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The works on the second lot, of the PY21 superhighway route that will connect Puerto Indio with the busy PY07 route (Itaipu Superhighway), in the department of Alto Paraná, are in full swing, generating employment and boosting the economy of the district of Mbaracayú.

According to the contractor’s report, the aforementioned section already has approximately two kilometers of granular base with primer irrigation, and in some sectors the clearing, clearing and cleaning continues.

In addition, the earthworks have so far covered some 4,670 metres, the installation of the granular base and sub-base over 1,100 metres, and in the last month the structural excavation for the installation of 5 sewers was completed.

More about the work

This project, which involves the improvement of 60.3 km, is being carried out on two fronts through a Contract for the Construction and Maintenance of Roads by Service Levels (Ccoma).

Lot 1 covers from km 0 to km 27 and is being built by the company Benito Roggio e Hijos SA with the supervision of the Grimaux – Electroconsult Consortium; while Lot 2, from km 27 to km 60.3, is being built by the company LT SA under the supervision of the TYPSA – AII Consortium.

The initiative is the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and is financed by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).

The paving works will be completed within 30 months, after which the maintenance phase will continue for 60 months, according to the MOPC report.
