Universal access to information: Minister Mutamba’s promises to the Congolese press –

JED and News Lab, on the occasion of the International Day for Universal Access to Information, organized an advocacy day dedicated to analyzing the impact of Ordinance-Law No. 23/09 of March 13, 2023 on press freedom and the information ecosystem in the DRC.

This activity brought together key figures from the media sector, representatives of the
government, parliamentarians and civil society actors to address the challenges
and perspectives related to access to public information.


Present at the event, the Minister of State, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Constant Mutamba Tungunga made commitments to guarantee freedom of the press.

Mutamba’s commitments to information professionals

The head of Congolese justice promised:

  • The creation of a judicial school;
  • The popularization of legal reforms;
  • Protection of genuine journalists;
  • The sanitation of the media sector…

JED and Kinshasa News Lab are committed to closely monitoring the implementation
