Genk Transporter Expands Xwift’s Footprint in Belgium
Xwift, one of Belgium’s leading transport groups, has strategically expanded its presence in the region with the acquisition of a longstanding transporter based in Genk.
A Legacy of Transport Excellence Joins Forces with an Industry Leader
Established in 1983 by Jos Hermans and his wife Frieda, the Genk-based transport company, previously a family-run business, has become a staple in the local logistics landscape. From its inception, Jos was a hands-on owner, often found behind the wheel, personally transporting petroleum products, general cargo, and fresh produce. Over the years, the company steadily grew, expanding its fleet and workforce. In 2011, the reins were passed on to their daughter, Ina, and her husband, Patrick, who were already integral parts of the business. Today, the company boasts a dedicated team of around 70 employees, including a large contingent of 65 Belgian drivers.
Carnass and Alken-Maes have been long-standing clients, relying on the company’s dependable service for their transport needs. The company has also invested in its own infrastructure, boasting a truck wash, fuel facilities, and a fully equipped garage to ensure operational efficiency.
Filling a Strategic Gap in a Key Market
“Limburg was still a blind spot for us,” a representative for Xwift explained. “We are thrilled to have filled this gap with the acquisition of this well-established transport company. It allows us to strategically expand our network and service offerings in a crucial region.”
This acquisition not only strengthens Xwift’s footprint in Flanders but also provides a seamless transition for Hermos Transport’s employees and customers.
A Vision for Continued Growth
With the integration of Hermos Transport, Xwift projects a turnover of approximately €125 million by the end of 2024, solidifying its position as a major player in the Belgian transport industry. The company is projected to employ almost 1,000 individuals, further emphasizing its commitment to growth and expansion.
