‍ ⁢Discontent is brewing among‌ Russia’s ⁢elite over ‍President Vladimir Putin’s handling of⁤ the Ukraine conflict. Independent ‍investigations reveal growing‍ frustration ‍within the ruling class, particularly over the prolonged ⁢nature‍ of the war.”They are really deeply disappointed in the outcome of the war,” says Russia correspondent Joost bosman.

Russian Elite Expresses⁣ Frustration Over Putin’s War Strategy

⁢ ⁣ Meduza, an independent news⁤ outlet, conducted ‍interviews with approximately ten high-ranking individuals from Russia’s political and administrative circles. These included government officials, Putin advisors, and regional governors. The findings highlight‍ a widespread weariness with the ongoing conflict and a sense of disillusionment over its ⁤lack⁢ of resolution.”Previously, telephone conversations were‍ leaked in which wealthy businessmen from Russian⁤ society criticized Putin, but it is still‍ startling news,” notes Bosman.

‍ Despite the ⁤growing dissatisfaction,‍ experts believe it is unlikely to significantly alter Putin’s policies. Bosman points out that the influence of oligarchs‌ was curtailed ⁤decades ⁣ago.”putin‌ gave these⁤ oligarchs an ‍ultimatum: earn your money but‍ don’t get involved in politics,”‌ he explains. ‌The current administrative critics, who spoke anonymously due to fears of reprisal, are also unlikely to shift the ⁢Kremlin’s stance. “If they speak out, they are in enormous danger,” Bosman adds.

⁤ Meanwhile, support for Putin remains robust among the affluent middle⁣ class in cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg. “The liberal ⁣elite, who frequently enough had a ⁣different view of things, fled the country,” Bosman observes. “Those who stayed behind can make their money under Putin and therefore also support him.”
