Currently, India levies duties exceeding 100% on approximately 20 US products.Trump has long been vocal in his desire to see these tariffs reduced, particularly on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
In November 2022, Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal hinted at a possible concession regarding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, stating, “we could be open to Trump’s longstanding request to lower tariff on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.” Goyal justified this openness by pointing out the lack of domestic competition for these heavy-duty bikes in India.
