“this policy will simplify administrative procedures both Taiwanese employees and prague employers would have to go through,” stated the Czech ministry of Labor. This advancement marks a significant breakthrough for Taiwan, which has long sought greater labor mobility in Europe. Previously, Taiwan was not included in the list of non-EU countries whose citizens could freely enter the Czech labor market.joining the Roster of Eligible Countries

Since July 2024, citizens of Australia, Japan, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Israel, and Singapore have been allowed to work in the Czech Republic without additional permits. Taiwan had initially been included on the list last year, but its inclusion was delayed due to the Czech Republic’s reluctance to recognize Taiwan as a “country.”

According to the latest amendments to Czech law, Taiwan can now be regarded as an “independent judicial jurisdiction,” paving the way for its inclusion on the list.

A tripartite meeting held in mid-December 2023 revisited this matter and ultimately approved Taiwan’s inclusion in the list of eligible countries.

This development signifies a strengthening of ties between Taiwan and the Czech Republic, offering new opportunities for economic cooperation and cultural exchange.
