Breaking News: €220,000 for Historical Events in Liguria

Genoa, Italy – In a significant move to preserve and promote Ligurian cultural heritage, the city has announced a €220,000 non-repayable fund for municipalities organizing historical and traditional events in 2025. This initiative aims to support the unique cultural identity of the region, offering tourists and residents alike unparalleled experiences.

Non-Fund Contributions for Cultural Events

The announcement, published in the “calls and competitions” section, targets municipalities excluding provincial capitals. Applications for the funding must be submitted by July 2, 2024. The fund is designed to support events held between June 1 and November 30, 2025.

“With this intervention, we aim to strengthen the link between territorial identity and the quality of the tourist offer, with particular attention to small municipalities and hinterland areas,” said Luca Lombardi, the regional councilor for tourism and territorial marketing. “Preserving the past through historical events is the most authentic way to shape the future of our communities.”

Eligibility and Funding Details

Municipalities that have organized historical or traditional events for at least 15 years, not necessarily consecutive, are eligible to apply. The contribution will cover 50% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of €5,000 per event. Applications must be submitted via PEC to the specified address.

The evaluation process will be comparative, forming a ranking based on scores. In case of a tie, the chronological order of submission will prevail.

Liguria’s rich cultural heritage is deeply rooted in its historical events and traditions. These events not only celebrate the region’s past but also attract tourists, boosting the local economy. By supporting these initiatives, Genoa is ensuring the continuity of traditions that define Ligurian identity.

Historical events in Liguria often include festivals, reenactments, and cultural exhibitions that showcase the region’s unique history. These events provide an immersive experience for visitors, offering insights into the region’s past while fostering a sense of community among locals.

How to Apply

Interested municipalities should submit their applications via PEC to the specified address. Detailed instructions and terms are available in the official notice. The deadline for submissions is July 2, 2024.
