Born on January 6, 1949, in Naples, Texas, to Herman & Nancy Luttrell, Gary Luttrell dedicated his life to shaping young athletes and impacting countless lives through football coaching.
A Legacy of Coaching and Mentorship
For 30 years, Gary Luttrell served as a football coach, leaving an indelible mark on the young men he mentored. He was known for his high expectations,combined with respect,discipline,and a unique “tuff-love” approach. Luttrell’s coaching style not only developed skilled players but also instilled valuable life lessons.
Beyond the Football Field
Outside of his coaching career, Gary Luttrell enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was an avid hunter of deer and squirrel, and he relished a good fish fry after a successful fishing trip. Weekends often found him on the golf course, where he was known as a legendary putter. During the summer, he and his wife, Sandi, enjoyed playing golf on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

He was preceded in death by his parents & a sister, JoAnn Adams.
Services Held
A visitation was held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home, with services following at 2:00 PM. interment took place at the Liberty Hill Cemetery. The family requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Naples Church of Christ: Honduras Mission, P.O. Box 710 Naples, Texas 75568.
