Malian Football Undergoes Groundbreaking Transformation with New National Technical Center
FIFA’s $4.3 million investment marks a significant milestone for the development of football in Mali.
State-of-the-Art Facility Spanning 20-hectares
A major transformation is underway for Malian football, symbolized by the construction of an ambitious national technical center.
Generously allocated on a 20-hectare site by the State of Mali via the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the project is funded by FIFA up to $4.3 million.
This complex is nearing its completion, with a recent decisive technical reception marking a key moment for the development of football in the country.
Currently, a FIFA delegation is in Bamako to supervise the final stages of the work.
Collaboration for Sustainable Success
A press briefing was organized on-site to review the progress, highlighting the commitment of all stakeholders. FIFA delegates collaborate closely
with the Malian Football Federation (Femafoot) to discuss aspects of the center’s future maintenance and full operationalization. This joint effort is essential for ensuring the long-term success of the initiative.
Modern Multifunctional Infrastructure
The technical center is a modern, multifunctional infrastructure organized into four main segments. It includes a four-star hotel with 36 rooms, separate dormitories for boys and girls,
three state-of-the-art training grounds, an amphitheater with 150 seats, training rooms, and a comprehensive medical unit, creating an optimal environment for the development of competitions and talents.
Promoting Inclusion and Talent Development
This innovative project aims to become a catalyst for the future of Malian football. FIFA actively supports Femafoot to integrate major programs like the “Talent Development Scheme,” focusing on
the detection and improvement of young talents. The center will serve as a base for national teams, especially for women’s football, thanks to specific installations promoting inclusion in sport.
Upcoming Stadium Construction
Additionally, another major project is on the horizon: the construction of a 12,500-seat stadium. The plans have been drawn up, and the steps towards obtaining FIFA approval are underway.
The success of these initiatives stems from the close collaboration between Femafoot and FIFA, which finances these projects under specific conditions.
History in the Making for Malian Sport
The inauguration of the technical center is eagerly awaited, with the possible presence of the FIFA president potentially making history for Malian sport.
This event marks a new era for the development of young talents and the professionalization of football in Mali.
