A new production company,Marauder Pictures,has officially launched with a mission to champion distinct voices and tell unique stories. The company, founded by BAFTA-nominated television producer Sarah Gordon and producer Joshua Bushell, aims to bring quality, authenticity, and originality to both documentary and narrative feature films.
Mark Waugh, formerly Global Chief Content Officer at Publicis Groupe, has joined Marauder Pictures to drive innovation in financing, marketing, and distribution.Marauder’s inaugural slate includes the co-produced feature documentary Invisible Front: Kherson. This film offers a powerful look at the human experiences within the Russian occupation and subsequent liberation of Kherson, Ukraine, directed by Estonian filmmaker Ilmar raag and produced in collaboration with DGTL RLGN (Ukraine) and Traumfabrik (Estonia).
The company is also producing two short films currently in production: Baby, which is now screening at festivals, and Dirt, which has recently completed filming in Odesa, Ukraine. Bushell is currently serving as one of the on-hand producers for Dirt.
In the narrative feature realm, Marauder is developing Eight, a high-concept psychological thriller-fantasy that delves into pregnancy psychosis. Penned by Phoebe Yemi Ara, the script has already received a long listing for the Sundance Feature Film Development Program.
Gordon, known for her observational documentaries in the UK and US and her work on music documentary series for Channel 4 and the BBC, including the BAFTA-nominated The Hip Hop Years, Pump Up The Volume, and Story of Jamaican Music, brings a wealth of experience. Bushell, who produced Mickey Angelov’s directorial debut feature dali for Look Aside Films (receiving four nominations at the 2025 Raindance Festival), also co-produced Simisola Akande’s documentary The Archive: Queer Nigerians with the BFI Doc Society alongside Gordon.
Bushell expressed his excitement for the launch, stating, “After dreaming of working in the film industry from an early age, I am very proud to be launching Marauder.
