RENO,NV – The Nevada Small Business Progress Center (SBDC) has launched its fourth annual Small Business Challenges Survey,aiming to provide critical data on the obstacles faced by businesses across the state. “Now in our fourth year, we’ll be able to track how these challenges trend over time and which obstacles remain persistent across Nevada’s business landscape,” stated the State Director of the nevada SBDC. This longitudinal data collection promises to offer a deeper understanding of the business surroundings and inform targeted support strategies.

The survey data directly supports statewide initiatives, notably the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), a program designed to enhance small business access to capital. Karsten heise, senior director of Strategic Programs & Innovation at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), emphasized the survey’s importance. “The Nevada Small Business Challenge Survey continues to be an invaluable tool in shaping the data-driven foundation of Nevada’s State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Technical Assistance component.”

Heise further highlighted Nevada’s recent success in securing a $4.2 million Small Business Possibility (SBOP) grant in September 2024. This funding, awarded to only twelve states, will bolster the state’s SSBCI Technical Assistance services. GOED’s partnership with the Nevada SBDC, its sole sub-grantee for the SSBCI Technical Assistance program, was instrumental in this triumphant grant submission.
