Jujuy gears Up to Host National Hockey Veterans Tournament
province Expects Influx of Visitors for Weekend Sporting Event

Jujuy is set to become a hub of athletic activity this weekend, as it prepares to host the national Hockey Veterans Tournament. The event, backed by the Provincial Government, will unfold at the Suri Rugby Club, drawing teams from across eleven provinces.
The proclamation, made by key officials including Luis Calvetti, Secretary of Sports; Diego Valdecantos, Secretary of Tourism; and Daniela Malinar, Vice President of the Argentine Union of Hockey Veterans, highlights the province’s commitment to promoting sports tourism.The competition will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday, August 16th, and sunday, August 17th.
Secretary Calvetti emphasized the significance of the event, particularly the anticipated arrival of over 200 individuals, including players and their families. He noted, “Governor Carlos sadir encourages us to continually support and promote sports across all disciplines, and we are thrilled to collaborate on this event.”
The tournament is expected to boost local businesses. “Tourism and sports go hand in hand.This event will bring numerous families from different parts of our country to experience Jujuy and participate in this fantastic event,” saeid Secretary Valdecantos, underscoring the economic benefits for the region. “It will create notable activity in restaurants, bars, and the club itself, benefiting both locals and visitors.”
Daniela Malinar expressed gratitude for the government’s support, the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Suri Club.The competition will feature categories for players aged 35 and over, 45 and over, and 60 and over. A Jujuy team will also participate.
The opening ceremony will commence at 8:30 a.m. on saturday,paying tribute to Marta Malinar and Sofia Gemio. Games will run throughout the day, concluding with an awards ceremony on Sunday at 6 p.m. for the over-35 category. Other categories will receive participation medals.
