Wednesday, August 20: A Preview of the Action

The excitement builds on Wednesday, August 20th, with admission gates opening at 11:00 a.m. and a nine-race program commencing at 1:10 p.m. Fans can enjoy Breakfast at Saratoga, served on The Porch from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., offering a buffet-style meal against the backdrop of morning training sessions. Reservations are not required.

Complimentary, guided backstretch tram tours will be available, departing from the clubhouse entrance every 30 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. the highlight of Wednesday’s card is the Grade 1, $150,000 Jonathan Sheppard Handicap, a challenging 2 3/8-mile hurdle test for older horses, slated as the first race of the afternoon.

Thursday’s schedule mirrors Wednesday’s, with admission gates opening at 11:00 a.m.and the 10-race program starting at 1:10 p.m. Saratoga Breakfast and Breeding Farm Tours, presented by New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. (NYTB), are available, including a buffet breakfast, transportation, a guided tour of a local breeding farm, and admission to the race course. Tickets can be purchased at NYRA.com. Limited to 52 guests per tour.

The saratoga low Roller Contest will be held exclusively on-track, requiring a $40 entry fee, with $30 going towards the player’s bankroll and $10 to the prize pool. participants must make five, $2 WPS wagers on five different races. the Albany presented by The Albany Distilling Company and fleet Indian, both $200,000 New York-Bred nine-furlong events, will also take place. Complimentary samples from The Albany Distilling Company will be available for those 21 and older from Noon to 4 p.m.

Friday will feature a complimentary Saratoga tote bag giveaway (while supplies last) and the Seeking the Ante and Yaddo presented by STIHL races. NYRA will also recognize jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. as the recipient of the 2024 Mike Venezia Memorial Award after the fourth race, honoring his sportsmanship and citizenship. Sampling opportunities for those 21 and older include Bulleit Bourbon, Tres Agaves Organic Tequila, and Whitman brewing Company’s craft beer. NYRA STAR, the program for children ages 12 and under, will also be offered.

Saturday’s DraftKings Travers Day will be a momentous occasion, boasting five grade 1 races.The $1.25 million DraftKings Travers will be the centerpiece, alongside the $500,000 Personal Ensign, Forego, H. Allen Jerkens Memorial, and Resorts World Casino Ballerina. Live broadcast coverage on FOX will run from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Complimentary photo magnets will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Jockey Silks Porch. Complimentary samples of Bulleit Bourbon and Tres Agaves Organic Tequila will be available for those 21 and older.
