Detroit, MI – September 9, 2025 – The city is experiencing a burst of color and creativity as the BLKOUT Walls Mural Festival returns for its third year, running September 8-14. The week-long event showcases ten new large-scale murals created by both local and national artists, imbuing neighborhoods with artistic vibrancy and culturally rich expression. The artwork is strategically placed within the Woodbridge and Franklin neighborhoods, and also along East Jefferson Avenue. Festival founder sydney G. James emphasized the intention to create an altered experience of the urban landscape. “Attendees will experience a different landscape of the city,” she stated.

The festival doesn’t only aim to beautify spaces; it is a community-focused initiative. James explained, “We prioritize small business-owned properties to adorn. The owners of the property and the surrounding neighbors get beautification revitalization”.
