Senior magistrate Letitia James, an enemy of Donald Trump who has just been indicted on suspicion of false declarations, defied the American president and on Monday gave unreserved support to Zohran Mamdani, favorite for the municipal elections in New York.

In her first public statements since her indictment, the attorney general of the State of New York declared that she feared “no man”, a thinly veiled allusion to the American president.

“I know how it feels to be attacked just for doing your job,” she said at a rally in Manhattan after greeting the crowd with a raised fist.

Letitia James was indicted last Thursday by a grand jury in Virginia on suspicion of making false statements in obtaining a bank loan.
