Actually, it’s been a few months since I retired, but time has passed hecticly as I’ve been caught up in a personal lawsuit this year.
The reason why the topic of this lecture is FIRE is because I actually did FIRE.
I wanted to tell you what I felt about the process and afterwards.
ㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡ
I have always liked children, and because of that, I studied pediatric dentistry and opened a practice with the concept of pediatric dentistry.
In pediatric dentistry, there are no treatments with large unit costs such as implants or orthodontic treatment, and from a management perspective, it is inevitable that the format will be peeling.
It is a job that requires a lot of physical strength compared to the same amount of sales. Because of the need to deal with uncontrollable children and their guardians at the same time, it is a field that is avoided even among dentists, to the point where jokes like, “Even if I starve to death, I can’t do pediatric dentistry.”
However, I was young and unscathed, and I was very interested in pediatric care, so I boldly took on the challenge.
And about 10 years have passed
Why I quit being a dentist
Pediatric dentistry itself is a physically demanding job, but combining it with Lao language activities was reaching its physical limit.
In fact, I began to feel signs of abnormalities in my health, and I thought that I had reached a point where I could no longer postpone my retirement as a dentist.
But it wasn’t an easy choice
I am a person who attended Seoul National University College of Engineering until the first semester of my 5th year and then dropped out. In my mid-20s, I retook the college entrance exam while earning living expenses, and I earned my own money to pay rent and tuition for six years of dental school.
Enduring such difficult times and being so poor
I graduated from dental school in my mid-30s.
Ironically, I could not give up my dream of pediatric dentistry, not implants or orthodontics.
I chose a field that wouldn’t ruin me, but would also make it difficult to make a lot of money.
And over the past 10 years, I have met various guardians and experienced various joys and sorrows.
But now, still young, in my mid to late 40s.
That profession is called
Quitting my job as a dentist
It wasn’t easy mentally
But unfortunately, I have to accept that my physical and mental health is at its peak.
Now living life after FIRE
So my story is
For some, the stimulation of life
For some people, the direction their life should take
I think I could give it to you
I created this lecture
I wanted to finish it within 2 hours, but when I saw the amount of material being created,
Since it seemed like it would take more time, I decided to rent a lecture hall for a longer period of time. You shouldn’t sleep because the lecture is long^^;
Starting from this lecture
Also, starting from this article
Officially, I have quit being a dentist.
I tell you
I don’t know either
I have been holding and treating struggling and screaming children for over 10 years.
Also, I was treated with a guardian who looked at it sensitively.
I wonder if I will miss it again in a few years or not.
I’m still not sure ^^;
But now I am living a life of FIRE.
I am experiencing that this is also a page of life.
Because it contains a lot of my personal story, this lecture will be
We do not plan to film for online transmission or YouTube rebroadcast.
However, for those who attend, I plan to provide QR materials for the rest of the lecture except for my personal life.
So that you don’t have to take pictures or write down notes.
We will make sure you can listen to the lecture comfortably.
Then, see you on the day of the lecture^^
