existIBIn education, physical education is an indispensable part of cultivating students’ all-round development. It is not only about physical fitness and skills, but also about culture and character. From October 18th to 19th, our school participated in the Northeast Regional International Schools Badminton Championships hosted by Dalian American International School. Other participating schools included Shenyang Keaisai International School and Changchun American International School.

In IB pedagogy, physical education is an indispensable component of cultivating students’ comprehensive qualities. It is not only limited to physical fitness and skills, but also involves culture and character building. From October 18th to 19th, our school participated in the DISA BADMINTON TOURMAMENT hosted by Dalian American International School(DAIS).  In addition to our school and the host school,QSI and CAIS also sent teams to participate.

Badminton competitions include women’s singles, men’s singles, mixed doubles, women’s doubles, and men’s doubles. The players sent by our school are: G7 Kevin、Leo、Tom、Daniel、Shirley,G9 Penny、Amy、Viviana

The badminton tournaments were played by team competition, in the five events of girl single, boy single, mix double, girl double and boy double. Our contestants were G7 Kevin、Leo、Tom、Daniel、Shirley,G9 Penny、Amy、Viviana.

In the two-day promotion competition, OCIS won with absolute advantage many times, especially the women’s doubles team, which won all the games. In the end, OCIS won the silver medal in the competition and finished second. Tom and Amy were also selected into the all-star team.

It is worth mentioning that for this competition, OCIS students arrived at the venue one day in advance and took all the time to train. Their serious and positive attitude helped them pass all the way to the finals. What’s more meaningful is that throughout the entire process, all the athletes built friendships with their peers from other international schools through passionate sports and spoke freely. Although they only had the opportunity to meet twice a year, everyone quickly became good friends who talked about everything.

It is worth mentioning that the OCIS students arrived at the venue a day early and made the most of their time by training intensively. Their dedicated and proactive attitude played a key role in their advancement to the finals. Even more meaningfully, throughout the event, all the athletes forged friendships with peers from other international schools through the exhilarating sport, engaging in open and heartfelt conversations. Despite meeting only twice a year, they quickly became close friends who could talk about anything.
