The Ministry has also initiated it’s Hospital Disaster Plan. He clarified that, due to the virus’s frequent mutations, a universal or single influenza vaccine does not exist. Regarding diagnostic testing, the Minister noted that laboratory tests are not routinely performed for all Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) cases. He explained that the majority of ILI cases are mild and can be effectively diagnosed based on clinical symptoms alone. “Clinical diagnosis is sufficient based on symptoms, and lab tests would not change the treatment given,” he stated.
