Willie ross School for the Deaf has announced the return of its American Sign Language courses for the spring term, kicking off Tuesday, February 3 at 32 Norway Street in Longmeadow. Classes occur once a week on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and run for 13 weeks,concluding May 12. There are no sessions on February 17 or April 21.

Programs will be offered at five levels: 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3. All levels begin February 3,and during the initial class,staff will assess each participant’s fluency to determine the appropriate level placement. Participants must be 16 years of age or older.
The Level 1A course is designed for newcomers with no prior sign language or finger-spelling experience, teaching the manual alphabet and the construction of simple sentences. Level 1B expands basic vocabulary and conversational skills.
Level 2A focuses on expanding vocabulary and conversation, while Level 2B targets learners with a solid basic vocabulary and fluency in expressive and receptive communication.
