Abraham, who played 15 seasons in the NFL for the Jets, Atlanta Falcons, and Arizona Cardinals, left South Carolina before graduating to pursue a professional football career after being selected 13th overall in the 2000 NFL draft. Despite a successful career that included three First-team All-Pro selections and five Pro Bowl appearances, Abraham maintained a commitment to finishing his education. He earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in psychology and sociology in May 2025, returning to Columbia to walk at commencement.
