Obama on Aliens: Trump Demands Release of UFO Files After Ex-President’s Admission

Former President Donald Trump has called for the release of government files pertaining to unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), alien life, and related extraterrestrial matters, citing heightened public interest sparked by recent remarks from former President Barack Obama. Trump announced his intention via his Truth Social platform, promising to direct relevant departments and agencies to begin identifying and declassifying these records.

The move comes after Obama, during an appearance on the “Brian Tyler Cohen Podcast” on Saturday, addressed the question of whether aliens are real, stating, “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them.” While dismissing the notion of a secret facility at Area 51 – unless a vast conspiracy exists – Obama acknowledged the statistical probability of life existing elsewhere in the universe. He later clarified his remarks on Instagram, stating the vast distances between solar systems craft alien visitation unlikely and that he saw no evidence of extraterrestrial contact during his presidency.

Trump, speaking aboard Air Force One, accused Obama of revealing classified information by suggesting the existence of aliens, calling it a “big mistake.” He stated, “He gave classified information. He’s not supposed to be doing that.” Trump added he doesn’t know if aliens are real, but that Obama’s comments were inappropriate given the classified nature of the information.

Trump Directs Agencies to Declassify Records

In his Truth Social post, Trump stated he would instruct the “Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies” to initiate the process of releasing government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, UAPs, and UFOs. He framed the decision as a response to the “tremendous interest” surrounding the topic. The post concluded with “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

The Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Disclosure Act, passed by Congress in 2023, already mandates increased transparency regarding UAPs. The Department of Defense has also established the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) to further investigate such incidents. Interest in UAPs has demonstrably increased in recent years, drawing attention from both lawmakers and defense officials.

Obama’s Previous Statements on UAPs

This is not the first time Obama has addressed the topic of UAPs. During a 2021 appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” he recounted being briefed upon entering office about whether aliens were being studied in a secret lab, and was told they were not. However, he also noted that officials were investigating aircraft exhibiting unusual flight patterns. He explained, “There is footage and records of objects in the skies that we don’t know exactly what they are… We can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory.”

When questioned about Obama’s remarks, President Joe Biden offered a brief response, stating he would “request (Obama) again,” according to reports.

Enigma, a company tracking UAP sightings, reports receiving more than 9,000 witness reports of mysterious objects within 10 miles of U.S. Shorelines since August 2025, according to their website.

The renewed focus on UAPs and the potential for extraterrestrial life comes as the public continues to grapple with unexplained aerial phenomena. The debate over transparency and the potential implications of discovering life beyond Earth is likely to continue as the government reviews and potentially releases further information.

What remains to be seen is the extent of the information that will be declassified and released, and whether it will satisfy the growing public demand for answers regarding UAPs and the possibility of life beyond our planet. The coming months will likely bring further developments as the relevant agencies begin the process outlined by former President Trump.
