Arc Raiders players are gearing up for a substantial update, dubbed “Shrouded Sky,” launching February 24, bringing with it a host of new challenges and customization options. The update introduces a dynamic hurricane weather system, two new ARC enemy types – the Firefly and the Comet – and a new loot area within the popular Dam Battlegrounds map. Beyond the gameplay additions, Embark Studios is also addressing player requests for cosmetic options, including the long-awaited addition of beards.
The “Shrouded Sky” update centers around a severe hurricane impacting the game’s Rust Belt region. This new map condition introduces reduced visibility, strong winds that degrade shield protection, and scattered movement, forcing players to adapt their strategies for survival. According to Embark, the storm also unearths First Wave Raider Caches, offering a risk-reward scenario for those brave enough to venture into the turbulent conditions. The developers are also using the event as a catalyst for a new player project focused on weather monitoring, tasking players with collecting materials to improve Speranza’s predictive capabilities.
New ARC Threats: Firefly and Comet
Players will face two new ARC threats with the Shrouded Sky update. The Firefly is described as an armored, flying drone that attacks with jets of flame, requiring quick reflexes and cover to avoid being burned. The Comet, a ground-based spherical enemy, patrols the surface and delivers a powerful “seismic boom” to unsuspecting Raiders. These additions aim to diversify the enemy encounters and challenge players beyond existing threats like the Rocketeer.

Dam Battlegrounds Update and the Surgeon Raider Deck
Embark Studios is also refining the Dam Battlegrounds map, the most popular map among players, according to CEO Patrick Söderlund. The update introduces a new high-value loot area called the Controlled Access Zone, aiming to enhance the map’s appeal and strategic depth. Söderlund also indicated that further map improvements are planned for other areas in the game. IGN reports that all maps are likely to receive attention in future updates.
For those seeking progression and customization, the third Raider Deck, themed around a Surgeon, offers a range of rewards in exchange for Cred earned by completing topside feats. Players can unlock the Surgeon cosmetic gradually by completing the Raider Deck, with options to embrace either a benevolent or more menacing aesthetic. The update also introduces new cosmetic sets, The Volare and Devotee, available in the in-game store.
Beards Finally Arrive in Speranza
Responding to player demand, Embark Studios is finally adding facial hair options to Arc Raiders. A Stubble cosmetic will be available to all players upon the update’s launch, while a Full Beard can be unlocked through the Surgeon Deck. Additional options, including a Stubble Beard and Thick Moustache, will be available for purchase in the in-game store. This addition, while seemingly minor, demonstrates Embark’s commitment to responding to community feedback.
Arc Raiders launched on October 30, 2025, and Embark Studios has outlined a four-month roadmap of content updates extending through April. The Shrouded Sky update represents a significant step in that roadmap, building upon weekly updates and establishing a consistent flow of new content for the extraction shooter. Arc Raiders official news details the ongoing commitment to expanding the game’s world, and challenges.
The “Shrouded Sky” update signals a continued investment in Arc Raiders’ long-term viability. With a focus on dynamic environmental challenges, new enemy encounters, and player customization, Embark Studios is aiming to keep the game fresh and engaging for its player base. The success of this update will likely inform the direction of future content releases and further solidify Arc Raiders’ position within the competitive extraction shooter genre.
