A fire broke out on the 14th floor of an apartment building in Suseong-dong, Jeongup City, North Jeolla Province, South Korea, at approximately 12:00 PM local time today, February 25, 2026. A 70-year-old resident was transported to a hospital after experiencing dizziness due to smoke inhalation, according to initial reports.

The affected building is the Suseong Jugong 2nd Apartment complex, located at 13-11 Suseong 2-ro, Suseong-dong, Jeongup City. The complex was completed in February 2022 and consists of 15 floors. According to recent data from Zipoom, the apartment complex has a variety of unit sizes, ranging from 11 to 25 pyeong (approximately 366 to 826 square feet).

Firefighters responded to the scene and are currently working to extinguish the blaze and investigate its cause. Details regarding the extent of the damage and the number of residents affected are still emerging. Local residents have reported concerns about the building’s fire safety measures, though these claims remain unconfirmed.

Recent real estate data indicates that an 18-pyeong unit in the Suseong Jugong 2nd Apartment complex was sold for 77 million won on February 19, 2026. Rental rates for similar units are approximately 5 million won for a deposit and 300,000 won per month, according to Zipoom. The Daangn real estate platform lists various properties in the Suseong-dong area, including apartments, studios, and commercial spaces.

The Suseong Jugong 2nd Apartment complex is located near the Suseong Jugong bus stop, a two-minute walk from the building. Residents have previously expressed concerns regarding parking availability and noise disturbances from a nearby bar, “Hyeonjeongine,” which reportedly causes disturbances on Friday nights. Other reported issues include difficulties with waste disposal and perceived interference from the elderly population within the complex.
