Online Credit & Payment Cards: Indy, Vivid & BoursoBank Compared

by

French financial institutions are increasingly focused on providing comprehensive banking solutions for independent professionals, with a growing emphasis on integrated digital tools. As of March 6, 2026, Indy, Vivid, and BoursoBank are the only providers currently offering both physical and virtual bank cards as part of their professional account offerings, according to a report by MoneyVox.

The competitive landscape for professional banking in France has seen a rise in online banks seeking to undercut traditional institutions with lower fees. Although several providers, including Qonto, Hello bank, and Revolut, offer promotional rates, they often lack the combined convenience of both physical and virtual card options. Indy’s “Essentiel” package, Vivid’s “Vivid Standard” or “Free Start” subscriptions, Shine’s “Shine Free” package, BoursoBank’s “Bourso Business,” Finom’s “Solo” plan, bunq’s “bunq Free,” and Sogexia all advertise free professional account options, but the card availability varies.

BoursoBank, however, requires clients to make at least one withdrawal or payment each month to avoid a €9 monthly inactivity fee, unless they opt for a virtual-only card. This requirement distinguishes it from Indy and Vivid, which do not impose such conditions. The focus on activity is part of a broader strategy by BoursoBank to redefine financial media, according to a recent LinkedIn post, blending banking innovation with a forward-thinking media approach.

Integration with other business tools is likewise becoming a key differentiator. Vivid Business accounts can be directly integrated with Indy, a process that typically takes 10-15 minutes, according to Vivid’s help documentation. This integration is available to users with Owner, Admin, or Assistant roles within the Vivid Business account, provided they use the same email address for both platforms.

The shift towards integrated solutions reflects a broader trend in the financial technology sector, as businesses seek to streamline their operations and reduce administrative burdens. Indy specifically positions itself as a complete solution for independent professionals, offering integrated tools for invoicing, accounting, and activity tracking. BoursoBank Business, in contrast, maintains a more traditional banking approach, offering features like instant transfers and international transactions in 32 currencies, as well as authorized overdrafts up to €2500.

Despite the increasing competition, some limitations remain. Indy does not allow overdrafts or card-based payments, and its banking functionalities are more limited than those of traditional banks. BoursoBank Business is exclusively available to existing BoursoBank customers and has relatively low monthly payment ceilings of €20,000.
